A batch of your favorite sugar cookies (I used this one)
Hard candy (like Jolly Ranchers)
Make the sugar cookies and cut them out with your favorite cookie cutters. Cut out the center of your cookies with a small cookie cutter (like our snowflake or star) or with a knife for simple shapes. Bake the cookies for 5 minutes.
While the cookies are baking, pick the candies you want to use, unwrap them and place them in a resealable bag. Now the fun part: use a food tenderizer or something else heavy and break the candies into small pieces. Take the cookies out of the oven and add the candy pieces. Put them back into the oven and bake until done.
Right when you take the cookies out, check for air bubbles and poke them with a toothpick so that the candy smoothes out. Let the cookies cool and enjoy.
