Every summer when I was a kid we'd go to the beach and get these yummy ice cream bars dipped in sprinkles called Bal Bars (after Balboa Island in Orange County). I've tried making them from scratch but it's not in the stars, so I found an easier way: dip store bought ice cream bars in chocolate and sprinkles.
It's pretty easy.
Pour the hardshell chocolate onto a plate and pour sprinkles onto a second plate.
Working quickly, dip both sides of the ice cream bar and the edges in the chocolate and then into the sprinkles. Wrap the bars in wax paper and put them back in the freezer until you're ready to enjoy.
One recipe of hardshell and 4 ounces of jimmies will cover about 6 ice cream bars.
